Profile of Attendees
ISAAC
conferences are known to stand for the cutting edge of developments in
the field of AAC. In 2008, the 25th anniversary of ISAAC, this is
reflected in the leadership stream of the conference program. In
addition to presentations showcasing achievements of delegates who use
AAC, plenary lectures, and scientific presentations, the exhibits will
feature a range of products that meet the interests of the delegate
demographics.
Conference
delegates include people using AAC and their family members,
caregivers, therapists, school teachers, university lecturers and
researchers, agency administrators, product developers, and civil
servants responsible for services to the disabled. A significant number
of these professionals are involved in the specification, prescription,
approval, and purchase of technology and services. In Montreal the
number of delegates from developing countries, and from Central and
Eastern Europe is expected to be the highest ever. Due to Montreal’s
convenient proximity we also anticipate a significant number of
attendees from the USA. The majority are women between 25-65 years of
age. Approximately 60 individuals with disabilities will attend.
The delegates will be attracted by offerings of cuttingedge plenary lectures, an expanded
poster session component, educational workshops, high profile
presentations showcasing achievements of delegates who use AAC, and an
exhibition offering a range of products and services for augmentative
communication. |
