Conference Information

Opening Session

The conference will open with a session for all participants. In addition to welcome messages and opening remarks, a special historical presentation will be featured in honour of the 25th anniversary of ISAAC. There will be a salute to past presidents of ISAAC and recognition of long-time ISAAC members, followed by a brief orientation to the conference as a whole.

Awards and Closing Ceremonies

Thursday, August 7
Following Ablenet Distinguished Lecture

The conference in Montreal will wrap up with the Closing Ceremonies. We will conclude the conference in the spirit of “Leading the Way” by recognizing the outstanding achievements in AAC of exceptional individuals. Join us in celebrating them and the accomplishments of ISAAC through 25 years and a glimpse ahead to a promising future.

ISAAC Silent Auction

Conference participants will have the opportunity to bid on attractive gifts and interesting AAC material from all over the world. Plan to visit the Silent Auction and help ISAAC to support people who use AAC to attend the international conferences.

The Silent Auction will be located in the lobby near the registration desk outside the Exhibit Hall.

Book Donations

Do you have AAC-related books that you are no longer using? Bring them with you to the ISAAC booth at the conference. They will be distributed to ISAAC members from emerging AAC nations (EAN).

Conference Languages

The majority of presentations will be in English. Presentations shown with a French title will be held in French. Application has been made for funding to provide simultaneous translation (English-French) for a select number of sessions. These services will be confirmed closer to the conference dates.

The convention centre is located in the city centre, on the edge of Old Montreal and Chinatown. The Place d’Armes metro (subway) station, on the orange line, is located directly under the Palais. For more information, please consult the metro map.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

The United States Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (USSAAC) is approved by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) to provide continuing education activities in speech-language pathology and audiology. This program is offered for up to 1.5 CEUs (Various Levels: Professional Area). ASHA CE Provider approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products or clinical procedures.

Food Services

The Welcome Reception on Monday and President’s Reception on Tuesday are included in the registration fee for certain registration categories (see Registration and Housing). Light foods (hors d’oeuvres) will be served at both these events. Delegates are responsible for all other refreshments and meals. Numerous restaurants and food stations are available in and around the convention centre (in Chinatown, Complexe Desjardins, Complexe Guy-Favreau).

Internet Cafe

An Internet Cafe will be available onsite throughout the conference.
